In the latest development, Mumbai-based off-spinner Ankush Jaiswal has heaved a sigh of relief, as he has been cleared by the national cricket body Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after being reported for suspected bowling action during his debut first-class competition.

  • BCCI clears Ankush Jaiswal’s action on July 27
  • Reported for illegal action in maiden 2015-16 Ranji Trophy Season
  • The off-spinner underwent bio mechanical tests on July 11 in Chennai
  • MCA vice-president Vinod Deshpande reveals his clearance
  • Jaiswal bagged five wickets on his first-class debut

Jaiswal got a significant favour to enjoy a new beginning as a bowler after Mumbai Cricket Association Vice-president Vinod Deshpande revealed about his return after receiving the inputs from BCCI.

“We have been informed that Ankush Jaiswal’s bowling action has been cleared and he can bowl again in all matches conducted by the BCCI,” Deshpande was quoted as saying by mid-day.

Jaiswal has expressed his delight after the verdict has been given in his favour while adding he has been working hard to make a comeback while thanking Mumbai Cricket Association’s staff including his bowling coach Omkar Salvi.

“Everyone was asking me what happened, but I had no answer to give. MCA gave me moral support and in particular [Omkar] Salvi sir. I want to perform and get back in the Mumbai team again,” Jaiswal revealed.

It is pertinent to state the 25-year-old slow bowler was reported for suspected action soon after his maiden Ranji Trophy game for Mumbai in the 2015-16 season against Madhya Pradesh in the Group B which was scheduled between November 23 and November 25 at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.

On July 11, Jaiswal had undergone a couple of bio-mechanical tests of his bowling arm (right) in Chennai’s sophisticated lab Centre for Sports Science Centre (CSS) at Porur alongside slow bowler Sidak Singh, who’s playing for Mumbai and left-arm fast bowler Riddhesh Pawar.

However, they are yet to receive the reports after undergoing the same tests for what Jaiswal has been given a green signal by Board itself.

“I patiently worked on my action during the last one and a half year,” Jaiswal concluded.

The spinner was banned with immediate effect after Madhya Pradesh team which was led by Devendra Bundela raised eyebrows over his bowling action.

Interestingly, in the same match, Jaiswal bagged five wickets after conceding 93 runs and scored unbeaten 20 with the bat after facing 19 balls, as he struck two boundaries and a six.

In the first innings, Jaiswal bagged four wickets after conceding 63 runs in 19 overs, before claiming a solitary wicket in the second innings after giving away 30 runs in 13 overs.

Jaiswal’s father is also working at MIG Cricket Club in Bandra located in the east of Mumbai, to maintain the ground – to see his son taking a new flight in the gentleman’s game in the foreseeable future.
