WWE: What To Expect From This Week’s Smackdown Live: August 1st, 2017 1

This episode of WWE Smackdown is going to be perhaps one of the biggest episodes of the show in recent memory. A match between John Cena and Shinsuke Nakamura does not take place every another day which is why the stakes are at their peak. Plus, the match will be contested to determine the number one contender for the WWE Championship at Summerslam.

But that’s not all, as we will be getting the third edition of Styles vs. Owens dream match on the show. This will be a rematch after the latter one dropped his title to Styles, last week. The episode will be hosted by the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.

Quite obviously, the hype up around this week’s show is raised with the Cena vs. Nakamura match. The question is who between these two will get an opportunity to the WWE Championship. According to the creative planning, John Cena is still intact in the contender’s place and not likely to move.

Hence, after a thrilling encounter, Cena is likely to emerge victorious via some sort of distraction from Baron Corbin. If the match gets disqualified then there are chances that a triple threat title match will be announced for Summerslam.

In the US title picture, AJ Styles is the clear winner against Kevin Owens since he has just won it, last week. He will retain to host an open challenge at Summerslam, whereas, Owens is expected to begin a feud with the Smackdown commissioner, Shane McMahon, going forward.

Natalya and Naomi’s Summerslam feud has still not heated up, yet. So, that portion needs to addressed, immediately. It will also be interesting to see what will be reserved next for stars like Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Naomi, and Lana. A tag team match featuring the team of Naomi and Becky Lynch against Carmella and Natalya has been added to the card.

Last week, the Usos delivered an onslaught attack to The New Day continuing their rivalry. It is expected that the champions will fight back this week to gain some momentum. These two are the greatest tag teams in the WWE, right now and will deliver another big time match up at Summerslam.

We also expect to hear from Randy Orton after one week’s absence from the show. We still did not hear from the former champion after his loss at the Punjabi Prison. Plus, Sami Zayn is having a lot of momentum by his side, right now. So, he should have a spot on the Summerslam card, as well. Rusev will feature in a match against Chad Gable on Smackdown.
