WWE News: Three Huge Matches Added to Summerslam Match Card After Smackdown 1

WWE Smackdown was able to confirm some of the marquee matches at Summerslam PPV following the last edition from Cleveland, Ohio. The show kicked off with a huge United States Championship match between AJ Styles and Kevin Owens. It was a rematch from last week as per the contender’s demand against the champion, AJ Styles.

We thought that this match might turn out to be the last match between these two culminating the rivalry. However, the creative has some other thinking in mind and hence went on to execute a different plan. The referee declared AJ Styles as the winner of the contest but he forgot that Kevin Owens’ shoulder was clearly up during the count.

So, the prizefighter confronted Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan at the backstage area demanding a rematch so that a fair decision is taken. The GM decided to appoint Shane McMahon as the guest referee in the fourth edition of Styles vs. Owens match at Summerslam.

Owens was not at all happy with this decision, whereas, the crowd was delighted after getting their beloved Shane-O-Mac at Summerslam in a certain capacity.

Apart from this match, Rusev was without any opponent at the Summerslam PPV. So, he demanded a bigger opponent for him that he did not get since coming on Smackdown Live.

Randy Orton confronted him by appearing in a surprising capacity and accepted the challenge. He proposed to have a match at the upcoming Summerslam PPV which was denied by the Bulgarian Brute. However, The Viper was able to deliver a major statement by hitting the RKO out of nowhere on him.

Following this altercation on Smackdown Live, WWE confirmed this match between Orton and Rusev at Summerslam. This is going to be a match that will take place for the first-time in the biggest PPV of the summer.

Also, Nakamura won his match against John Cena and hence will lock horns with Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship at Summerslam.
