Wokaes injured himself during the first game of the ICC Champions Trophy against Bangladesh when he pulled off side strain and went out after bowling just two overs. He was replaced by Steven Finn in the tournament. He joined the England team in the nets during the second Test against South Africa at Trent Bridge but it was already confirmed that he will not be the part of the series. He is all set to be included in the England side for the series against Windies but he has to prove his fitness in the county game so as to be available for selection.

His addition will leave skipper Joe Root faced with selection conundrum as debutant Toby Roland-Jones did well on his debut Test – where he replaced Mark Wood. With Chris Broad and James Anderson confirmed as bowling spearheads, Wokaes might have to warm the bench before getting an opportunity to mark a comeback in international cricket.
