The Story
It was today, 70 years ago, when a new India was born. The British India was divided into two independent countries: Pakistan and India.
At midnight on 14th August 1947, India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru declared the formation India to its citizens. The success of the constant struggle, which began in 1857, was finally realised. After more than two centuries under the British rule, the Indian’s finally won the freedom and the tricolour, representing the independent India, was hoisted with pride for the first time on this day.

Fresh from a Whitewash
Team India is currently fresh from a 3-0 whitewash which was completed with an emphatic win over the hosts at Kandy. After wins in the first Tests played at Galle and Colombo, India wrapped up the third Test with a margin of an innings and 171 runs, bowling out Sri Lanka for just 135 & 181 after posting 487/10.
It was a dominant win for the Indian side. Kohli now boasts of Test victories on both of his tour to this nation as captain. Before the series, Virat Kohli predicted a 2-1 score line similar to the one which India achieved during the 2015 tour. However, nothings of that kind happened. The lack of experience in the side and injuries worries deflated the hosts completely. There was no real contest in all sense.
Shikhar Dhawan was named as the Man of the Series while young all-rounder Hardik Pandya was adjudged as the Man of the Match.
