Despite Sri Lanka suffering a defeat in the second ODI of 5-match ODI series against India at Pallekele, Sri Lankan new off-spinner Akila Dananjaya was awarded Man of the Match due to his extraordinary bowling effort.
Dananjaya had a superb evening with the ball as his bowling figures was 10-0-54-6. But, still, Sri Lanka could not manage to win that game due to lack of support from the other bowlers.
Though it is not usual in ODI cricket to win a Man of the Match Award in a losing cause, it has already happened more than 200 times. There are some players who have achieved this feat more than once while the many other cricketers have achieved this only for once.
