UEFA WC Qualifiers Round-Up: Germany Snatched A Late Win; England Clinched Big Victory; Denmark Thrashed Poland 1

Czech Republic 1 (Vladimir Darida 78′) – Germany 2 (Timo Werner 4′; Mats Hummels 88′)

World Cup champions Germany are closer to qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup after beating the Czech Republic thanks to a late goal. Timo Warner put the visitors Germany ahead in just 4th minute of the match. The Czechs soon replied by via Vladimir Darida on 78 minutes through a stunning shot from 25-yard distance.

Hummels scored the winning goal for Germany on 88 minutes after his header found the net from the following free-kick which was taken by Toni Kroos.

With this victory, Germany comes closer to directly qualify for the next year’s FIFA World Cup that will be held in Russia.

On the other hand, the Czech Republic’s chance to qualify for the next FIFA World Cup hugely disheartened after this defeat.

 

Norway 2 (Joshua King 32′ PEN; Rasad Sadiqov 59′ OG) – Azerbaijan 0

Hosts Norway beat Azerbaijan by 2-0 in the Group C encounter. Norway earned the 1-0 lead after Joshua King converted a penalty into a goal on 32 minutes. The lead was extended in the 59th minute after the visiting midfielder Rasad Sadiqov scored an own goal.

 

San Marino 0 – Northern Ireland 3 (Josh Magennis 70′ & 75′; Steven Davis 78′ PEN)

After beating the hosts San Marino by 3-0, Northern Ireland moves closer to securing their place at least for the playoff round for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

After the first half ended a goal-less draw, Jose Magennis scored the first two goals for the visiting side on 70 and 75 minutes respectively. The visitors stretched the lead as Steven Davis scored on 78 minutes through a penalty.
