WWE: What to Expect from this Week’s Smackdown Live: September 5, 2017 1

There’s no doubt that the creative heads of Smackdown Live come up with innovative ideas, every week to make the show better. But, the gap between the bygone and upcoming PPV is felt at times. The next one in line will be held in October. Till then, the show will have to keep its integrity intact.

It might be the reason that another dream match will headline tonight’s show. Plus, a big-time matchup has been announced from the women’s division, as well. The show will take place tonight at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The blue brand has made it a norm to give us some first-time ever matchups to happen on the show. The tradition continues tonight with the main event. It will be Randy Orton taking on against Shinsuke Nakamura to determine the number one contender for WWE Championship.

At this point, the champion, Jinder Mahal does not have any proper contender. It is expected that Nakamura will come out of the match as the winner to get another opportunity to the title at the Hell in a Cell PPV. Orton already had a feud with Jinder, and hence the chances of this feud’s reincarnation are quite less.

In the other announced match up, Smackdown women’s champion, Natalya will square off against the Money in the Bank briefcase holder, Carmella. Nattie is expected to pick up a victory over the princess of Staten Island to pick-up some momentum. It will help her in the championship match against Naomi, next week.

Bobby Roode has participated in some one-off matches since coming to the main roster of the WWE. As per the speculations, he might start his first-ever feud on Smackdown against Dolph Ziggler. The show-off is also out of tasks, at this point and hence will be given to putting Roode over.

As we have witnessed in the last two weeks, AJ Styles’ next opponent will be Baron Corbin for the US championship. But, the bad days for the Lone Wolf is certainly not over, as he failed to deliver an assault to the champion on the previous episode. Styles will come up with another US open challenge, meanwhile.

The Usos are expected to let us know about the stipulation to be added to the tag team title rematch. They earned the right to do so by winning a match against The New Day. Plus, the feud between Randy Orton and Rusev is far from over. Hence, we can expect to see another physical altercation between them.
