Delhi-born cricketer Robin Bist is set to make a comeback for Rajasthan for the upcoming domestic season. Bist, who played a key role in Rajasthan’s Ranji Trophy win, switched his base to Himachal Pradesh two years back after he got a call from then BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur but the right-handed batsman has now decided to come back to the state for which he made his first-class debut,
“I have decided to move back to Rajasthan. That’s one State that has given me everything, so it would be good to play for them again,” Bist told Sportstar.

He has already got an NOC from the state association and will soon be joining the side for training, ahead of the upcoming domestic season.
On being asked whether it was mistake to join Himachal Pradesh, Bist said that it was the need of the hour to switch the base then,
“If you ask me if that was a mistake, I would say it wasn’t. Perhaps, that was what the circumstance demanded. But now, things look bright again,” he said, adding that as a senior player, his job would be to guide the team through ups and downs. Having the experience of playing in Rajasthan, I know what it takes to deliver the goods,” he added.

Bist shifted to Himachal Pradesh after BCCI banned the Rajasthan Cricket Association. However, the players continued to play for the state under the name of Rajasthan only. Along with Bist, Rituraj Singh and Ramesh Powar were other two players to switch their base then. Rajasthan though got a boost in the form of all-rounder Rajat Bhatia then.

Robin Bist, the highest run scorer of 2011/12 Ranji season, came close to a national call-up when he was selected in the India A side for the tour to Windies but he could not carry his form, which ultimately resulted in him being disappearing from the national scene soon. Though still, one good season with his state side can at least guarantee him a place in the A team again.
