India and Sri Lanka are set to play the one-off T20I at the Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on Wednesday but, the chances of having a complete game is very slim.
The rain has been pounding in the capital city of the Island over the past 24 hours. And if forecasts are anything to go by, the match could only have more rain. Tuesday practice session for both the teams was also cancelled after continuous rains, and Colombo is seeing some huge downpour since Monday. According to Accu Weather, the chance of precipitation is 54% at the start of the game.
There are very good chances that rain can cause continuous interruptions throughout the match too. However, the fans will be hoping to have a full game despite the predictions.
India has had a perfect tour so far in Sri Lanka, having managed to win all the three tests and five ODIs comprehensively. The Virat Kohli-led side is looking to finish the series on a positive note by winning the T20I before heading back home.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka is looking to salvage some pride after their poor cricket post-Champions Trophy. They had lost to Zimbabwe in a five ODI series at home and had continued that with their miserable performances against India as well.
Virat Kohli & Co, have managed an unprecedented success in the tour and the victory in T20I would complete a satisfied campaign for Team India. Sri Lanka has called leg-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay and seam-bowling all-rounder Dasun Shanaka along with Suranga Lakmal for the game.
Update: Covers are removed at 17:50 local time, but there is plenty of work that needs to be done by the ground staff to get the match underway. Toss could be delayed!
