Bishan Singh Bedi, the legendary India spinner has backed the rested offie Ravichandran Ashwin, as he said if he were Ashwin, then would not have lost his sleep after being rested,
“If I was Ashwin, I’d not lose my sleep over (not playing ODIs and T20s),” Bedi told Sportstarlive.

Bedi further called Ashwin an intelligent bowler, but also cautioned him to improve his fitness,
“He’s an intelligent bowler. But it’s all about wickets, wickets, wickets. That’s just one part of Ashwin’s game. If you’re bowling 4 overs in a T20 game, then you must bowl 12 overs in practice sessions. If you’re bowling 25-30 overs in Tests, then you must be able to bowl three times that in practice,” he added.
Recently, the topic of Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have received a lot of attention due to their continuous ignorance from the limited-overs side. Ashwin is currently playing county cricket in England and is expected to come back in the T20I side, whereas, Jadeja is on rest from the past one month and still, there were no signs of his comeback when the selectors announced the squad for the first three ODIs against Australia.
For the second time, MSK Prasad said that these two had been rested for the series.

Jadeja though has expressed his objection on the matter, as selectors, on the name of rest, are continuously ignoring him and Ashwin in limited-overs format, despite them being regular in Test cricket. Now the ball is in selectors court to call back these two for last two ODIs and T20Is series.
If the opposite happens, then the message will be clear, that they are looking ahead of them in the limited-overs format.
The series between India and Australia starts on September 17 with the first ODI to be played in Chennai. Four ODIs and three T20Is will follow. Ahead of the outset of the series, Australia will face Board President XI squad in a One-Day game on September 12 in Chennai, where they have already reached and will live till the conclusion of the first ODI.
