19th September 2007, a date which no Indian fan will ever forget. It was on this day that Yuvraj Singh hit Stuart Broad for Six 6’s in an over in the inaugural T20 World Cup in Durban. Yuvraj Singh has always been a big match player and a game winner for India. Yuvraj had an average tournament till that match. However, that game turned to be the turning point for both India and Yuvraj Singh.

India’s match against England was a must-win encounter as they had already lost to New Zealand in the first match of the super eight stage. Yuvraj came into bat in the 17th over of the innings with India’s score at 155. At the end of 18th over Yuvraj had some heated exchange of words with England’s Andrew Flintoff which was enough to ignite a spark inside Yuvraj.

In came Stuart Broad to bowl the next over. Yuvraj smashed six sixes in that over making him the first Indian to do so in international cricket. India’s current coach Ravi Shastri is the other Indian to achieve this feat in a first-class match. In the process of hitting six sixes, Yuvraj also became the fastest player to score 50 in international cricket. He achieved the milestone in just 12 balls. He holds the record along with Chris Gayle who has also scored a 50 in the same number of balls.

Yuvraj was instrumental for India in the tournament as he hammered the Australians in the semi-final of the tournament. Yuvraj scored a 30 ball 70 in the match. India had an excellent campaign as they went on to win the World Cup and much of the credited must be given to these two incredible performances by Yuvraj Singh.

But this feat of hitting six 6’s in an over will always be remembered as one of the greatest achievement by an Indian player in international cricket.
