For the last couple of weeks, Shinsuke Nakamura has not been able to make his presence felt on Smackdown Live. He was kept off from live TV en route to his Hell in a Cell Championship match against Jinder Mahal. In his absence, the title-holder has been able to make a mockery out of his opponent for the last two weeks.
As seen on last week, Jinder and the Singh Brothers made fun of him which reached the limit, according to the commentators of Smackdown Live. He addressed Nakamura as ‘Godzilla’ in the promo which blasted the number one contender.
But, what came as a shocker to many of the fans that despite getting negative remarks from most of the audience, the same segment was taken forward for the next week, as well. Going one step forward, Jinder Mahal made some nasty derogatory comments on his challenger. At this time, he referred the Japanese sensation as “Mr Miyagi” which did not go well for the WWE Universe.
Being a veteran performer around the pro-wrestling circuit, Nakamura has a huge fanbase, globally. They certainly believed that the reigning champion had gone too far with his comments. We have seen numerous tweets on the social media over WWE letting this happen on live TV.
Apparently, the officials realized that they were going down into the hot water and hence released a statement, finally. It was a short message to their fans to address the reason behind the segment. Being a fictional story-line maker, there’s no truth lying to the comments, as per the company.
Check out the full statements, here,
“Just like many other TV shows or movies, WWE creates programming with fictional personalities that cover real-world issues and sensitive subjects.
As a producer of such TV shows, WWE Corporate is committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds as demonstrated by the diversity of our employees, performers, and fans worldwide.”
These two will lock horns for the title at the upcoming Hell in a Cell PPV. Nakamura became the contender by defeating Randy Orton in a first-time ever match on Smackdown. The chances are high that The Rockstar might get to hold his first WWE Championship on October 8th.
