Andrew Tye has been called up as a replacement for Pat Cummins in the three-match T20 series against India starting 7th October. Pat Cummins has been rested for the T20 series to prepare for the Ashes scheduled to begin from 23rd November. Cummins is set to fly back home after the five-match ODI series.

Tye has played five T20I matches for Australia and is one of the most successful T20 matches in the Big Bash League. Tye will join the fast bowling department already comprising Nathan Coulter-Nile, Kane Richardson and the uncapped Jason Behrendorff. Tye has been out of cricketing action since he dislocated his shoulder in the Indian Premier League while playing for Gujarat Lions in April.
Tye had a very successful stint with the franchise as he was the leading wicket-taker for the team. Out of the possible 14 matches, Tye played six matches for the Lions and picked up 12 wickets. His campaign also included a hat-trick against Pune, which helped his team clinch the victory. He finished with the bowling figures of 5-17 in that match. Tye flew back home early due to a shoulder injury.
Tye also missed out the Natwest T20 Blast as he had to undergo surgery. He had initially signed for Gloucestershire side but later pulled out of the tournament.
Australia is already trailing the five-match ODI series 3-0 and is looking forward to salvaging some pride in the remainder of the series. The next two matches are scheduled to be played in Bangalore and Nagpur. Earlier in the year, the Aussies lost the Test series in India, and now they have lost the ODI series as well. They will be looking forward to winning the T20 series. The matches will be played in Ranchi, Guwahati and Hyderabad.
