Germany began with a late victory

Germany began their 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup campaign with a late-goal victory against Costa Rica. Jann-Fiete Arp put Germany 1-0 ahead on 21 minutes which was replied by Costa Rican forward Andres Gomez Rodriguez on 64 minutes.

Just a minute before the 90-minute mark, Noah Awuku scored the decisive goal for Germany after the opposing defender made an error.

 

Iran beat 10-man Guinea by 3-1

Iran 3 (Allahyar Sayyad 59′; Mohammad Sharifi 70′ PEN; Saeid Karimi 90′) – Guinea 1 (Fandje Toure 90’+1′)

Iran beat 10-man Guinea by a 3-1 scoreline. After the first half ended with a 0-0 scoreline, Allahyar Sayyad broke the deadlock on 59 minutes with a superb shot from outside the box as Iran took a 1-0 lead.

Ten minutes later, Iran was awarded a penalty after Guinea defender Cherif Camara made an injurious contact with the leg on Mohammad Ghaderi’s body inside the penalty box. Due to that connection, Camara was sent off with a direct red card which had also received a yellow card earlier in 26 minutes.

Mohammad Sharifi converted that penalty to a goal with ease. Saeid Karimi made the scoreline 3-0 for Iran on 90 minutes.

In the injury time, Fandje Toure scored the consolation goal for Guinea in a beautiful style.

 

Group D

Brazil beat Spain in their opening clash

Brazil 2 (Lincoln 25′; Paulinho 45’+1′) – Spain 1 (Wesley 5′ OG)

Coming back from an early one goal down, Brazil snatched a victory against Spain in their opening match in 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

On just 5 minutes, Spain went 1-0 ahead through an own goal. Going to clear the Ferran Torres’ through ball, Brazilian right-back Wesley mistakenly netted the ball.

Lincoln equalized the scoreline for Brazil on 25 minutes after Spanish left-back Diego Pampin failed to hold and clear the ball.

In the injury time of the first half, Paulinho made the 2-1 scoreline for Brazil that was assisted by Marcos Antonio with a through ball. That goal also proved the winner for Brazil at the end of the game.

 

Niger’s WC debut recorded with a victory

North Korea 0 – Niger 1 (Salim Abdourahmane 59′)

Niger’s World Cup debut recorded with a victory against North Korea by a 1-0 scoreline. Salim Abdourahmane scored the solitary goal on 59 minutes from the Habibou Sofiane’s pass.
