Group C

Iran beat Costa Rica and finished as a Group champion

Costa Rica 0 – Iran 3 (Mohammad Ghobeishavi 25′ PEN; Taha Shariati 29′ PEN; Mohammad Sardari 89′)

Dominant Iran beat Costa Rica and reached the Round of 16 as a Group C champion with three victories.

Iran won two back-to-back penalties inside the 30 minutes from which they got a 2-0 lead. Mohammad Ghobeishavi scored the first goal from a penalty on 25 minutes while Taha Shariati converted the second penalty in just four minutes later.

On 89 minutes, Mohammad Sardari extended the lead for Iran from a through ball by Amirhossein Hosseinzadeh.

 

Germany clinched a victory to qualify for the next round

Guinea 1 (Ibrahima Soumah 26′) – Germany 3 (Jann-Fiete Arp 8′; Nicolas Gerrit Kuhn 62′; Shaverdi Cetin 90’+2′ PEN)

Germany clinched a victory against Guinea by 3-1 and qualified for the next round (Round of 16) as a Group C runner-up.

Jann-Fiete Arp produced an early lead for Germany (8’) which was equalised by Ibrahima Soumah on 26 minutes.

An opposition defensive error caused the second goal for Germany on 62 minutes that was successfully netted by Nicolas Gerrit Kuhn.

In the injury time, Germany secured the match with a penalty goal. Guinean Sekou Camara committed a foul on Jessic Ngankam inside the penalty box which resulted in a penalty for Germany. Shaverdi Cetin made no mistake to score form that as Germany won the match by 3-1 and secured their spot in the Round of 16.

Brazil beat Niger with two first-half goals

Niger 0 – Brazil 2 (Lincoln Correa dos Santos 4′; Brenner 34′)

Brazil beat Niger with the help of two first half-goals.

Brazil went the 1-0 ahead on just 4 minutes after Lincoln Correa dos Santos scored from Paulinho’s cross.

Brenner doubled the lead for Brazil on 34 minutes from a free-kick that took a big deflection on the defensive wall before entering to the goal.

Niger tried their best to give a reply, especially in the second half but failed to beat the goalie.

With this victory, Brazil reached the Round of 16 as a Group D champion with three victories.

On the other hand, Niger ended in the third place of this group with one victory and secured their spot in the next round.

 

Dominant Spain beat 10-man North Korea

Spain 2 (Mohamed Aiman Moukhliss 4′; Cesar Gelabert 71′) – North Korea 0

Dominant Spain beat 10-man North Korea by 2-0 and qualified for the Round of 16 as a Group D runner-up.

Spain earned an early 1-0 lead after Mohamed Aiman Moukhliss scored on just 4 minutes from Cesar Gelabert’s pass.

Spain got their second goal on 71 minutes when Cesar Gelabert netted successfully.

Later on, North Korean substitute midfielder Paek Kwang Min was sent off with a direct red card due to making a violent conduct.
