To the much pleasure of the WWE fans, WWE announced to bring back an old gimmick based PPV, Starrcade.
As per the announcement, the WWE network special event will be hosted by the Smackdown Live brand. It will return to its hometown of Greensboro, North Carolina on November 25th. There’s no confirmation yet as of whether it will be a PPV or not.
The WWE has announced the match card, and it’s packed one. There will be two steel cage matches on that night from both male and female division. The Hardy Boyz from Raw will also be in attendance alongside some other pro-wrestling legends who were cornerstones for the old WCW promotion.

Check out the updates from WWE.com about the event, here,
“The premier event of the National Wrestling Alliance and, later, WCW, Starrcade got its start in Greensboro on Thanksgiving 1983 with a star-studded lineup that saw Ric Flair defeat Harley Race to win his second of 16 World Championships. Starrcade remained in Greensboro through 1986 and was the stage on which legendary performers like Dusty Rhodes, The Four Horsemen, Magnum TA, The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express and many more etched their names into sports-entertainment history.”

Now, there’s a big reason why WWE brought back this old event to its event calendar. It was stated by Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Apparently, a legends’ convention will take place on that very weekend naming Wrestlecade. To counter that one, WWE came up with the idea of hosting at the same time span.

The Wrestlecade event will take place from November 24 to 26th with veteran names appearing for it including Mick Foley. The former WWE Superstar, Cody Rhodes is also expected to join there since his father is associated with this kind of old PPV events.
This countermeasure by WWE was not taken likely by the hardcore wrestling fans, at all as they let their voices knew via the social media platforms. Cody Rhodes also expressed his disappointment over WWE not mentioning his father promoting the event.
Hopefully, despite the backlash, we will be witnessing a big return of the Starrcade event, which was considered to be the Wrestlemania of WCW.
