Sergio Ramos is free to complete a transfer to Manchester United as Real Madrid line up a deal for Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci.

Real Madrid have lined up a big-money bid to land Arsenal and Tottenham target Leonardo Bonucci.

The 29-year-old Spaniard looks set for a move to England with Madrid prepared to let him exit for a staggering £71 million, as per the Guardian.

Ramos, who played 27 times in La Liga scoring four goal last season, has been subject to a bid from Manchester United with manager Louis van Gaal willing to pay £49.6million, as per the reports in the Metro. Whilst the aforementioned Guardian article claims that the Red Devils’ latest bid of £28.5million was turned down.

Real want Bonucci to replace Ramos, blow to Arsenal and Spurs as Manchester United in pole position 1

Meanwhile, Metro reports that the Red Devils are finally clear to sign Ramos as Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web is saying Los Blancos are looking to bring in Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus as his replacement.

The Juventus defender has been identified as a key summer transfer acquisition for new boss Rafael Benitez, who knows the 28-year-old well from his time spent in charge of Napoli in Serie A.

Benitez is thought to have told president Florentino Perez that he wants to see the former Inter Milan player in a Madrid shirt next season.

The Italian international is also wanted by Arsene Wenger and Spurs but is set to decide shortly whether his future lies in Italy, Spain or England.

The potential exit of Ramos will see Madrid move for Italian defender Bonucci who played in the Champions League final back in May and helped Juventus knock-out Ramos’ Real in the semi-final last season.

Bonucci, who made 52 appearances last term and scored four goals, helped the Old Lady to a league and cup domestic double and a successful run through to the Champions League final.

Manchester United have used Real’s pursuit of David de Gea as makeweight to sign Ramos with both sides playing hardball on the fee involved for both players.

Manchester United have been in the market for a defender after finishing fourth in Van Gaal’s first season in charge and should the deal for Ramos go through they will have acquired one of the very best in the game.
