Overall, three members of the Raw roster were taken out of the TLC PPV those were affected by a virus.
Roman Reigns, Bray Wyatt, and Bo Dallas were on the receiving end of the direct effect of this. So, WWE was forced to sideline them from the locker room to prohibit the further spread of the virus.
Updates from SportsKeeda.com suggested that The Big Dog, as well as the other two members, were examined just earlier the TLC event. Since they needed some rest to heal up as soon as possible, the officials decided to send them back home. It further pushed them to arrange two suitable superstars’ names to come up with the marquee matches on the show.
Now, there’re some conflict reports about the exact symptoms of the virus. Meningitis is the supposed illness while some consider it as an effect of Mumps. As per the source, below is the actual disease that it is:
“Meningitis is a highly contagious virus and has a lot of devastating effects. While it can cause death in some patients that is if it gets too bad and isn’t properly treated. Someone like a WWE Superstar is going to have access to the best care possible.”
“Meningitis is often caused by a viral infection, and there are vaccines which can prevent some forms of meningitis, but not all. The symptoms include headaches, fever, and a stiff neck. If a fever wasn’t really evident a WWE Superstar might experience a stiff neck.”
It also causes several physical deficiencies to the men who are affected by the virus. It affects the membranes that protect the brain and spinal cord. Sometimes, it can be life-threatening.

Apparently, the creative heads had multiple options to choose from while replacing Roman Reigns on the card. But then they wanted to keep intact the intensity that was created by The Shield reunion. So, Kurt Angle was chosen out of all the options.
The same can be said for the Bray Wyatt vs Finn Balor match, as well. Other WWE Superstars could have filled up the gap created by Wyatt. But, since AJ Styles was the one to create a dream match for the fans, he was chosen instead. He flew from Argentina to his hometown of Atlanta and then again join the Raw roster in Minnesota.
