WWE News: Wrestlemania Brand Makes It to The Forbes List 1

WWE officials are constantly working hard to make Wrestlemania as one of the most global mainstream events so that it can get recognized as a behemoth brand in the sports industry. As a result, it continues to feature in the list published by Forbes for three consecutive years.

In the latest instalment published of top 40 sports brands in value by the magazine, Wrestlemania was able to secure the sixth spot toppling big names like UEFA Champions League and Daytona 500. The showcase of the immortals was able to achieve a brand value of $195 million which is up from next year by 8.3%. These are the top brands given in the list:

#5 NCAA Final Four at number 5
#4FIFA World Cup
#3 The Winter Olympics
#2 The Summer Olympics
#1 NFL’s Super Bowl

For the past few years, WWE is working hard to spread their TV programming on a regional basis to capture the more global audience. As a result, we have seen Jinder Mahal being a dominant champion in order to grab the Indian market. Apparently, that hard work is paying off, as more audience can get to see the biggest event of the year. WWE.com provided the following updates about Wrestlemania achieving one more accolade,

“WrestleMania has once again ranked on Forbes’ Fab 40. The Showcase of the Immortals, which just celebrated its 33rd edition this past April in Orlando, ranked at No. 6 on the magazine’s long-running list of the world’s most valuable sports brands, above institutions such as the UEFA Champions League and the Daytona 500.

This year’s WrestleMania broke the Orlando Citrus Bowl’s attendance record with 75,245 WWE Universe members from all 50 states and 62 different countries. The previous Orlando Citrus Bowl attendance record – 74,635 – had been set by WrestleMania XXIV in 2008.
WrestleMania also ranked on Forbes’ list in 2014, 2015 and 2016.”

The biggest WWE PPV of the year keeps on getting bigger with every passing year. In 2016, it managed to pull off a record attendance of more than 100,000 people at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas with the main event of Triple H and Roman Reigns for the WWE Championship.

This year’s edition was also a successful one with Undertaker’s potential retirement and John Cena proposing to Nikki Bella. Next year, the event will return to New Orleans, Louisiana to host the 34th edition. The tickets will get released on November 17th. Alongside the main show, there will be programs for a week-long like Wrestlemania Axxess, Hall of Fame ceremony, NXT Takeover, Raw and Smackdown Live.
