A day after Pakistan bowling all-rounder Faheem Ashraf claimed a hat-trick in the second Twenty20 fixture against Sri Lanka in the UAE, the Victoria-based grade cricketer Nick Gooden emerged with an impressive record by bagging a triple hat-trick when he claimed five wickets on five consecutive deliveries while aiming to break his brother’s record.
Gooden, who started off the proceedings with the two wides which included a down the leg-side extra, as the bowler held his nerve — to respond spectacularly.

“I just roll the arm over; I’m not fast or anything like that. I really wasn’t bowling very well,” Gooden was quoted as saying by Latrobe Valley Express.
At the weekend, Gooden revealed he was aiming to go past his brother’s record with the best figures while adding he had hit the ball at right spots – to yield the results.
“My brother’s best bowling figures were 8/30 so after I had the hat-trick I thought ‘maybe I can beat him’, and that’s all I really tried to do,” Gooden added.

The burly medium pacer Gooden was representing third-grade club Yallourn North Cricket Club which eventually saw him achieving the remarkable feat against Latrobe when he first registered a hat-trick to accomplish the ultra-flat.
Before handing an easy win to his side, Gooden achieved the tally during the Central Gippsland Cricket Association competition.
“I came off and thought to myself ‘I hate cricket, I’m never playing again,” Gooden remarked.
After failing to perform with the bat, Gooden aimed to give his best shot while with the delivering the ball.
“Well I opened the batting and went out and made a golden duck with the third ball of the game, which was pretty embarrassing,” Gooden maintained.
After notching up a hat-trick, Gooden finished his figures with eight for 17 which further saw him dismissing six players were clean bowled and one was declared lbw.

According to the report carried by Australia media, Gooden has further lavished praise on groundsmen for providing the lively surface after returning to the field since December 2016.
“I was definitely the most excited. I think I told everybody in Yallourn North that night,” Gooden concluded.
The promising Victorian youngster was nursing injury before returning to the grade cricket after nine months.
