As announced earlier, this week’s WWE Smackdown was expected to get hosted in a big way. Three huge matches were already confirmed to build the team blue for Survivor Series. Plus, a new team captain was declared. Check out the results from the show hosted by Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.

WWE Smackdown kicked off with Shane McMahon addressing last night’s attack on Daniel Bryan on Raw. He cut quite a strong promo about how they should go all out to reign supreme on their rival brand. With Kurt Angle being in charge of Raw, it is quite expected that he should lead the team blue. So, replacing Randy Orton, he was named the new leader.

The two out of three falls match between Bobby Roode and Dolph Ziggler took place, next. Ziggler got the first fall of the match, whereas, Roode was able to get the second one with a catapult. The show-off was on the verge of a win with a zig-zag, but Roode came back by hitting a Glorious DDT to get the win and earn a spot in Survivor Series team.

The women’s division got a backstage segment where the team captain Becky Lynch showed true leadership quality and advised the members to be united. Natalya appeared insulting the other members about how she should be leading the team to victory if given a chance.

The Usos and the contenders for the Smackdown tag team titles, Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable had a backstage segment where we learned that a title match would take place, next week. The winner will face the Shield at the upcoming PPV.

Sin Cara demanded a rematch with Baron Corbin after last week’s ambush. The masked Luchador was all fired up and sought his redemption. He delivered multiple spears to the US Champion outside the ring. Also, numerous chair shots were delivered to Corbin, as he retreated through the crowd. The contest got disqualified.

Jinder Mahal cut a heel promo on Brock Lesnar before Samir Singh took on AJ Styles. The match did not last long, as Styles hit a kick to get the pinfall win. Jinder pounced on AJ after the match. A massive three on one ambush was delivered to the phenomenal one which ended with a couple of Khallas moves.

Rusev, Aiden English had a confrontation with The New Day. It set up a match between Big E and Rusev on Smackdown. Aiden was present at the ringside to provide the distraction. So, despite neutralizing Aiden, Big E was caught in a superkick from Rusev to digest a loss.

In the main event match, Kevin Owens locked horns with Shinsuke Nakamura. The exciting contest was interrupted by Sami Zayn who came out to help Owens. It forced Randy Orton to come out as well and take out Sami by thrusting him into the announce table. Nakamura then connected with the Kinshasa move to pin Owens and advance to Survivor Series.
