Shakib-Al-Hasan has achieved a rare feat on Wednesday while playing against South Africa in the series decider at Chittagong. Shakib, who finished with three for 33, completed his milestone when he claimed the wickets of Faf du Plessis and captain Hashim Amla.
When Shakib forced Amla to edge to wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim, he became the second Bangladeshi to take 200 ODI wickets, and the seventh cricketer to take 200 wickets and scored 4382 in the history of ODI cricket.
The numero uno allrounder in ICC ODI ranking joined those six cricketers who were asset to their teams in their playing days. Now, excluding Shakib all of them took retirement from all form of international cricket.
An all-rounder is actually two in one; we have seen all-rounder scored a hundred and take five wickets too in the same match, though very rarely. We have seen Sanath Jayasuriya, who could bruise the opponent both with his willow and brisk spin bowling. Sometimes they may fail with their one role, but they will play another role to win a match for his captain. In 1996 world cup semifinal Jayasuriya got out just scoring only one run, but he demolished Indian batting lineup by taking four wickets.
Like Jayasuriya, another genuine all-rounder who was spectators’ delight was Jacques Kallis. He has played the game for almost 20 years.
Here is the list of seven player who have more 200 plus wickets and 4000 plus runs to their name:
