The fifth spot on the Smackdown women’s team for Survivor Series is up for grabs, as of now. Initially, both the team from the female division were all set. On Raw, Alicia Fox is the team captain, whereas, Nia Jax, Asuka, Sasha Banks and Bayley are on the team. On Smackdown, Becky Lynch is the team captain with Charlotte Flair, Naomi, Carmella and Tamina Snuka on their side.
The lineup for the blue brand changed after this past episode of Smackdown Live. Charlotte received a chance to challenge Natalya for the women’s title. She won the match via submission to become the new Smackdown Women’s Champion. In combined, she is a five-time champion who will now be challenging Alexa Bliss at the Survivor Series.
It is quite evident that The Queen will no longer be available in the five-on-five traditional tag team match leaving one vacant position. WWE.com has not made any announcement as to who would secure the spot on this Sunday. It led birth to the speculations about a big name that might get inserted in this slot.
A Facebook post from The 434 suggested that none other than Nikki Bella might be the fifth name who would return as part of the blue brand on this Sunday. She had done with her duties as a participant of Dancing with the Stars and hence gearing up for a comeback as a wrestler.
WWE has been advertising the match card with the remaining spot to get filled up, ‘very soon’. It is a big hint that they have someone in-store whose name would be revealed on the day of the PPV to make it a surprising entry. The inclusion of the former Divas Champion’s name into the name will make them much stronger.
We are still to learn in which condition the longest reigning champion is, as she was dealing with a neck injury. If she does not come back, then there are plenty of names who could fill up the spot. The former champion, Natalya is the strongest contender to get added to the match being a veteran. Also, Paige, who is waiting to return is also a viable option for the creative team. Lastly, Lana from the Smackdown roster wanted to be on team Smackdown, as well.
