Baroda boy Irfan Pathan has been struggling with his international career since long. The left-hand pacer fell out of favour of the national selectors, and it has been a tough road for him ever since. The younger of the Pathan brothers, Irfan, played his last Test in the year of 2008 against vs South Africa. However, his limited-overs career stretched a bit longer as featured in his previous One Day and T20 international in 2012.

The bowler who was once regarded as one of the most talented swing bowlers the country has seen, took to Twitter to share a snap from his training session. Pathan took the field at the Purandare Stadium to work on his bowling skills. In his tweet, he thanked T.A. Saker for being his mentor in the nets and Pravin Amre for allowing him to sweat it out at the Stadium.

The tweet read “Thank u T a Saker sir for working on my bowling n trying to make me bowl better N Thanks to @pravinamre for letting us use the practise facility at purandare stadium Dadar”.

Irfan’s promising career fell apart under the coaching of Aussie cricketer Greg Chappell where he was used as an all-rounder. In an attempt to develop his skills as a batsman Pathan lost his magic touch as a bowler. He never got back to his lethal self ever after and that was a drastic fall in his career.

Pathan also went unsold at the 2017 IPL auction which marked another major low in his cricketing career. However, an injury to Gujarat Lions bowler Andrew Tye paved the way for him in the iconic 10th edition of the IPL as the Lions picked him up in the later stages of the tournament. However, Pathan has been active at the domestic level and is looking for a return to the national side.
