- Indian skipper Virat Kohli scored his 10th century (4 in Test and 6 in ODI) in international cricket in 2017. It is the most number of century scored by a captain in international cricket in a calendar year.
- Indian batsman Virat Kohli (213) scored his 5th Test double-century in this match and all of them as a skipper. After this double-century, Kohli became the joint most no.of Test double-century scorer as a captain. West Indian legend Brian Lara had also hit five double-centuries during his captaincy tenure.
