Experienced Australian batsman Travis Head has been named as the new captain of the Adelaide Strikers for the upcoming edition of the Big Bash League in place of Brad Hodge, whose contract wasn’t extended after a poor show during the last campaign. Notably, Head already leads the South Australian side in the other two formats.

The 23-year-old Head will be the youngest captain for Strikers in the history of the competition. He is also the only batsmen to score a BBL hundred for his franchise scoring 614 runs in 26 matches he has featured.

“It’s a privilege to be named the captain. We’ve got such an exciting squad this season and a good mix of youth and experience. We’ve got amazing fans, an incredible home ground at Adelaide Oval and I know the guys are really hungry to have success. There’s good continuity in the team with a few players who have stuck with us for several years plus a few big recruits like Colin Ingram, Rashid Khan, and Peter Siddle. We can’t wait to get started,” Head, who already cemented his place in Australia’s limited overs side was heard saying.
