After a 1-0 victory in the two-match Test series in Zimbabwe, the Windies cricket team began their tour of New Zealand from 25th November, as they played their first practice match.
The first of the two Tests begins from 1st December at Basin Reserve in Wellington. The Windies were seen giving a tough fight to the English team in conditions which favoured swing and seam bowling.

The Windies side is currently on the rise and had produced a good brand of cricket, as they have been looking forward to winning even on away tours.
The conditions in New Zealand will favour pace and bounce which will be beneficial for their resurgent bowler Kemar Roach and Shanon Gabriel, and the head coach is confident the two bowlers do well in such conditions.

In the batting department, the rise of Shai Hope has given the Windies cricket a ray hope, as he had impressed with his performance in England, where were suiting the bowlers more.
Also, Shai Hope became the first player in the history to score centuries in both the innings in Headingley.

The former skipper, Darren Sammy has predicted that both the teams will share the Test series. He said,
“New Zealand is a tough team to play at home, but coming from Zimbabwe hopefully we’ll win the series, I think they have got the confidence pitches are normally good down there, probably a little greenish ball will move a little, but backing our fast bowler I would say 1-1.

Talking about the ODI’s, he said,
“Now it becomes more competitive, but New Zealand are a very good One Day team, just saw them in India winning the first ODI, 2-1, I am not sure, I am tempted to lean towards the West Indies, but its gonna be a tough task, hopefully if it will be 1-1 going into the third ODI, it will be West Indies. The T20 should be ours, I am tempted to say 3-0 I think guys like Chris Gayle and all these guys will be back in the team, Evin Lewis would be fit again and Narine all these senior boys come back into play but 2-1 to West Indies.”
