Australian Pacer Mitchell Johnson went crazy as he bowled one delivery from almost next to the umpire, which would measure 24 yards from the batsman when compared to the normal 22 yard distance. Even though it was not a legitimate delivery accoording to the laws of cricket, Umpire Aleem Dar signalled it a legitimate delivery. He continued to frustrated the England crowd during the third Test at Edgbaston as they kept chanting “Mitchell, Mitchell”.
Australia appealed for a caught behind decision against Joe Root and when the umpire said no, they went for a review even though the ball went to Peter Neville without brushing the pads or the bat. Two balls later when the same thing happened, Michael Clarke refused to review and the crowd started to ock the Aussies for it. Johnson played to the crowd perfectly as he also wasted enough time in shining the ball and started his run-up to deliver. But as soon as he reached his last step, he aborted the delivery to frustrate the home team audiences.
The Barmy Army have decided and will be ready again with their traditional songs and made-up chants for Johnson in the last two Test.
