John Cena Brock Lesnar Royal Rumble 2018

John Cena was back in the WWE for a one-off match at the Survivor Series PPV. He participated in the traditional tag team match as part of the Smackdown brand. Despite being the most prominent name present on Team Blue, he failed to lead the team to victory. It is due to the part-time role in the company, for now, that the officials did not let him leave any impact on the match.

For now, he is being advertised to come back at the end of the year. The day after Christmas should mark his return in a house show to be hosted at the Madison Square Garden Arena in New York. The promotional activities are suggesting that he will feature in a rematch against Roman Reigns on that night of December 26th.

Apart from that, a major match might be in-store for the franchise player of the company upon return. If the Facebook post from The 434 is to go by, then John Cena will be the challenger for Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble PPV. If this match takes place, then we will see the renewal of a bitter rivalry from three years ago.

Finn Balor was the most predicted name in the context when it comes to determining the next challenger for Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship. However, since Vince McMahon himself does not see him as the main event guy, he might not end up being the opponent for the beast incarnate when he returns to defend his championship in 2018.

The officials do not think that the first-ever Universal Champion can match up to the level of the current champion. So, this match is probably out of the card, for now. So, a backup name was needed in this place. Probably, the 16-time world champion will get another chance to the title.

For now, John Cena is busy promoting the upcoming movie, Ferdinand. In this animation film, he is representing the lead character by lending his voice. The movie spree will continue for the upcoming weeks until he returns to perform in the WWE. This time around, he is expected to continue to be a part of the locker room for the entire Wrestlemania season.
