Belgian international and world class midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is being strongly linked with Premier League giants Manchester City this summer. It is believed that the Cityzens would splurge around £45 million to lure the midfielder’s service.
In this context, Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany has held his compatriot in high regards and suggested that De Bruyne’s inclusion would surely benefit the City squad.
Goal quoted Kompany: “Let’s put it this way, he definitely wouldn’t make the team weaker. Any team he goes to he will make them stronger. He’s a phenomenal player. A complete player.
“Our squad can become stronger just by getting everyone in the right direction. We had so many players who just didn’t perform last season – and I was one of them. If they do perform this year it will be like having six or seven new players. Then we will have a stronger squad.
“But players like Raheem [Sterling], [Fabian] Delph from what I’ve seen and Patrick Roberts too, they’ll give us something different, so many options.”
Kevin De Bruyne had previously played in the Premier League for Chelsea in 2013.14 season. But midway through the season he was sold to Wolfsburg as he did not fit into Jose Mourinho’s plan. Since then the player has did miraculously well for the German side and was one of the key architects in Wolfsburg success last season as they won the DFB Pokal and finished second in the league. They also won the German Super Cup this summer beating Bayern Munich.
City are the front-runners to sign the player this summer.
