The Spaniard had joined Spurs from Valencia in 2013 for a fee of £26 million but failed to impress in the Premier League. He featured in 76 games for the North London side and netted 16 goals in total. Roberto Soldado also remained out of action for a considerable period of time due to recurring injuries. Other European clubs like Sevilla and Benfica were also interested in Spanish striker, but the 30-year-old striker prefered Villarreal.
With the emergence of English youngster Harry Kane last season who netted 31 goals, Soldado’s chances of making it into the starting lineup looked bleak. Thus it was a wise decision to leave England and return back to his native.
