We received a packed edition of WWE Raw, last night to conclude the schedule of the flagship show in 2017.
Plus, the expectations were pretty big with the occasion being a big one in the form of Christmas. Two of the franchise players returned to the show to feature in the headline of the show. Here’s what transpired on the show hosted by the All-State Arena in Chicago, Illinois.
John Cena kicked off this week’s WWE Raw wishing the Chicago crowd “Merry Christmas” in a huge round of applause from the crowd. He was soon interrupted by Elias who intended to give the Chicago crowd a song. Instead, this set-up a match between the two of them in the opening contest. After a back and forth going Cena hit his pendant moves and then followed it up with the AA to pick up the pinfall win.
The second contest on the show was six-woman tag team match, as Paige, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville took on against the team of Sasha Banks, Bayley, and Mickie James. The crowd was vocal with “Let’s go Sasha” chants, at one point.
However, that could not hand her the win on behalf of her team. Bayley went for an elbow drop but ate a kick to the face from Paige who connected with the Ram-paige for the victory.
Kane had a match against Heath Slater on WWE Raw and picked up a dominant win. He delivered a chokeslam to get the pinfall. Following the match, he also put down Rhyno with another chokeslam. Braun Strowman also picked up a win against The Miz-tourage by delivering a running powerslam on Bo Dallas.
Bray Wyatt appeared on the Tron to cut a promo but instead decided to head to the ring. As the light came back following his entrance, we witness Woken Matt Hardy standing in the ring and attacking Wyatt from behind with a ‘Delete’ chant broken out in the arena. Matt did some crazy antics in the ring before finishing the segment.
Hideo Itami defeated Bryan Kendrick with a GTS. The other match from 205 Live witnessed Cedric Alexander, Mustafa Ali and Akira defeating Enzo Amore, Drew Gulak and Ariya Daivari.
In another impromptu matchup, Finn Balor defeated Curt Hawkins. Asuka delivered a big statement to Alexa Bliss heading into the women’s Royal Rumble match by hitting The Goddess with a kick to the head.
Roman Reigns looked fired up while taking on Samoa Joe for the Intercontinental Championship. He vowed to seek retribution against Joe for taking out Dean Ambrose, last week. So, the match turned out to be a physical match, as Reigns delivered a brutal attack on Joe. The match was disqualified due to this, as Reigns continued punishing his opponent with a steel chair in hand.
In the main event of WWE Raw, Jason Jordan and Seth Rollins teamed up against Sheamus and Cesaro for the tag team championships. Jordan claimed to be a good replacement for Ambrose and delivered by the end of the night. Rollins took care of Sheamus outside the ring, whereas, Jordan connected with his new finishing manoeuvre inside the ring on Cesaro to earn the pinfall and become the new WWE Raw tag team champions to end the night.
