WWE: What to Expect From This Week’s Raw: January 8, 2018 1

It is going to be the second episode of WWE Raw in 2018. Only three weeks are remaining for the 31st edition of Royal Rumble PPV, and the buildups are in full force. Tonight’s edition of the show will be headlined by The Miz who is coming back onboard after almost two months.

It will be interesting to see what he does to claim his dominance on the show. This return will also determine the fate of the Intercontinental Championship. We also expect an update on the Women’s Championship, as well. Tonight’s show will be hosted at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee.

According to the updates from WWE.com, the former Intercontinental Champion is going to be the focal point of the show. The most must-see superstar will declare his intentions to head into one title picture heading into the Royal Rumble. Check out the updates from the official website,

“Will Miz set his sights on the Intercontinental Championship he lost to Roman Reigns, or will his attention shift to the Royal Rumble Match itself, where he could earn a Universal Championship opportunity on The Grandest Stage of Them All, WrestleMania 34? When his hand goes up, our mouths might actually go shut on Monday night, as the entire WWE Universe is anxious to hear what he has to say.”

If the recent updates are anything to go by then, Roman Reigns will have a big chip on his shoulder. The Hollywood A-lister is over with his film duties, and will definitely go to reclaim the title that he made prestigious on WWE Raw. The rematch between these two for the IC title is still due. Hence, a renewal of the rivalry is expected on the show.

The WWE Raw women’s championship situation should be addressed. Till date, it has not been announced whether Alexa Bliss will defend the title at Royal Rumble or not. Last week, Asuka picked up a huge pinfall win over the champion which gives her a title shot. We should learn whether she will get a singles match for the title.

The Cruiserweight championship match that was scheduled to take place, last week was cancelled due to Enzo Amore’s flu. Tonight, he is expected to come back and deliver the match against Cedric Alexander. Kane and Brock Lesnar are expected to have yet another brawl after last week’s confrontation. Brock Lesnar is not scheduled for this week’s WWE Raw though.

Finn Balor reunited with his former brethren, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, last week. They are likely to continue the team to keep the momentum on their side. Plus, Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan will also continue their winning streak, for now.
