Bastian Schweinsteiger’s first ever club, TSV 1860 Rosenheim, have revealed the actual transfer fee which Manchester United had to pay for the Germany captain to Bayern Munich this summer.

German midfield maestro Bastian Schweinsteiger left Bayern Munich, where he had one year remaining on his contract this summer and joined Premier League giants Manchester United.

When making the move, it was reported that United paid close to €20 million for the 2014 World Cup winner.

But his first club, Rosenheim, where he played until 1998, have now disclosed the exact transfer fee.

The official website of TSV 1860 Rosenheim revealed: “The transfer fee adds up to €9 million.”

According to FIFA rules and regulations, Rosenheim, who currently play in the regional fifth tier Bayernliga Sud, are set to receive a part of the transfer fee that is €38,000 for the former Bayern Munich star.

 Sandro Sacco, the club’s finance director, further added: “We have been credited for two years [that Schweinsteiger spent at the club]. We will receive the payment in two instalments, and after deducting the advisor and legal costs, we will receive €19,000.

“We already received the first instalment in August. We are delighted about Bastian’s incredible career and also that we profit from it financially as his first club.”

Bastian Schweinsteiger, 31, joined Manchester United this summer on a three-year contract. 

He has made 500 appearances and scored 70 times for Bayern Munich since his debut in November 2002. During his time at Bayern Munich, he has won 20 major honours including an incredible eight Bundesliga medals. The German international midfielder has 111 caps for his country and is their current captain. He was an integral part of Germany’s World Cup-winning team in 2014.

Schweinsteiger is one of the most decorated players in history with 8 Bundesliga, 7 DFB Pokals, 2 DFB Liga-Pokals, 2 DFL Super Cups, 1 Uefa Champions League, 1 UEFA Super Cup and 1 FIFA World Cup.

He is yet to fulfill his potential at Old Trafford has he has been mostly as a one-half player by Louis van Gaal. The Dutch manager mostly switches between the German and Michael Carrick at the central midfield position.
