This week, the main event of Fastlane PPV was confirmed for the WWE Championship. A number one contender’s match was hosted for the WWE title between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

The singles contest did not come out to fruition properly since no one won the match. Rather, it was disqualified via interference from AJ Styles.

This forced the general manager of the sow to come out to let his decision know to the audience. He announced that AJ Styles will have to defend his championship against two superstars at the same time.

It is going to be a triple threat match at WWE Fastlane PPV comprising of Styles, Owens, and Zayn. It will be contested under no disqualification capacity.

To hype up the next week’s edition of Smackdown Live, it was also confirmed in the closing segment of the show that Dolph Ziggler will return to the show after a hiatus of nearly two months. He will feature in a singles competition against the former bitter rival, Baron Corbin.

It was definitely an impromptu announcement and was not supposed to help the down-going career of Dolph Ziggler. He was expected to pursue the United States Championship that he never lost.

So, this singles match was of no significance for him while making an impact upon comeback. However, a twist in the take has been revealed by the Smackdown commissioner.

As revealed on the social media, Shane McMahon declared that this match between the show-off and the line wolf has been made a contender’s match for the WWE Championship.

The winner of this match will be added to the title match at Fastlane making this one a fatal-4-way. This is a huge announcement indeed.

With that being said, the odds are now heavily stacked against AJ Styles. In this type of multi-man match, he will not have to pin or submitted to lose the WWE Championship and that too at a point when Wrestlemania 34 will be on the horizon. This announcement has also put the dream match between Styles and Nakamura in serious jeopardy.

As reported earlier, the Fastlane main event was originally supposed to be a multi-superstar matchup.

The arena of the Fastlane PPV advertised a fatal-5-way contest for the prime title present in the WWE.

We are confirmed to get a fourth opponent for the match, for now. In the near future, another superstar might also be added into the mix to make the earlier announcement made by the venue, true.
