WWE News: John Cena Added to WWE Championship Match at Fastlane 1

John Cena alluded his path to Wrestlemania has been the toughest, this year.

For the first time in his career in the 15 years of a span, he has not faced such a situation where no particular goal is set in front of him. Hence, he indicated that he might not be at Wrestlemania.

But, a veteran like him is certainly desperate to make it to the biggest event of the year. Hence, he had his way to make it there. The first option for him was to challenge The Undertaker at Wrestlemania. But, that is not going to happen which is why he had to shift to the blue brand of the WWE.

The free agent of the company was all set to make things interesting on the Smackdown brand. It is a good thing for the officials since they can now use him at the upcoming PPV named Fastlane, too. A huge match was finalised featuring him after the happenings from last night. The landscape of the blue brand changed entirely with the implications being all-time high around the blue brand.

John Cena arrived on the scene with the same demand of getting an opportunity at Wrestlemania 34. He could not think a better way to get it by challenging for the WWE Championship. Shane McMahon thought the franchise player’s addition would help the Smackdown brand in a big way. Hence, he wanted to hand him over the opportunity.

However, Daniel Bryan came up opposing the idea. It is Smackdown Live where every man has to earn his opportunity. Hence, a match against AJ Styles got confirmed for him at the main event of the show.

The stipulation was added to the mouth-watering showdown was if John Cena manages to win the match, he will be added to the Fastlane PPV championship match.

Big-match player, John proved why he is called so by capitalising on the opportunity. After a phenomenal match between the two of them, he escaped the Calf Crusher from Styles and planted him with the AA. With this win, the WWE title match at Fastlane has now become a six-way title match.

The match already had five contestants who are Dolph Ziggler, Baron Corbin, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and AJ Styles who will defend the title. The task at hand to retain the title has been made tougher for ‘the face that runs the place’ after last night.
