Last night marked the final PPV event before the Wrestlemania 34 event.
It was the Fastlane PPV event hosted by the Smackdown brand. A huge main event was stored in the form of a six-pack WWE Championship match. Also, all the other championships from the blue brand were also on the line. Check out the results from the night hosted by the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
Shinsuke Nakamura vs Rusev
Shinsuke Nakamura kicked off the Fastlane show with an entertaining match with Rusev. The latter one locked in the Accolade which was countered with a roll-up. Rusev connected with a superkick on Nakamura, but he kicked out. Later, Nakamura kicked in the back of Rusev and delivered the Kinshasa to pick up the pinfall win.0
WWE United States Championship Match
Randy Orton vs Bobby Roode
Both men tried to connect with their respective finishing manoeuvres to finish the contest earlier. Roode was sent to the barricade for a count-out win, but he was dragged back into the ring. Orton hit a superplex, whereas, Roode delivered a spinebuster. He went for a blockbuster off the rope which was converted to an RKO for the win. Jinder Mahal showed up to assault both the men. But, Roode overcame to plant both of them with DDTs to stand tall.
SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match
The New Day vs The Usos
Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston represented The New Day in this match which turned out to be a no contest. At one point, The Usos performed a high-flying move on the New Day to put all them down at the ringside. The Bludgeon Brothers hit the ring to start attacking all the competitors of the match to make it disqualified. Woods got slammed on the steel steps, and the others digested a huge splash from Rowan to end the segment.
Women’s Division Tag Team Match
Becky Lynch and Naomi vs Natalya and Carmella
Becky Lynch went for an early arm-bar to Carmella. She escaped the lock and tagged in a Natalya who countered with a snap mare suplex. Aftermath, Naomi was also tagged into the match to have a back and forth going into the match. Later, Becky received the hot tag, and she started rolling. But, Natalya brought the Money in the Bank briefcase to create the distraction. While focusing on Natalya, Carmella delivered a superkick on Becky to pick up the pinfall win at Fastlane.
SmackDown Women’s Championship Match
Ruby Riott vs Charlotte Flair
Charlotte went on to lock in the figure-four early in the match. Ruby used the top rope to escape the hold and hit her opponent. Her partners, Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan showed up at the ringside area to provide the distraction to the champion. But, sooner, Becky Lynch and Naomi ran out to level them up. Later, chaos broke out, and the referee ejected the heels from ringside. Taking advantage of the situation, Charlotte Flair hit a spear and locked in the figure-eight to submit Ruby Riott to retain at Fastlane. After the match, Asuka walked out hinting she wants to face Charlotte Flair at Wrestlemania.
Six-Pack Challenge for the WWE Championship
John Cena vs. Sami Zayn vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Kevin Owens vs. Baron Corbin vs. AJ Styles
John Cena was desperate to win this match. So, he hit AA to each of the other participants of the match except for the champion. AJ Styles landed on his feet while Cena tried to hit the finishing move.
All the other superstars got to their feet and started brawling in the match. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn turned on each other, at one point of the match.
Accidentally, Owens hit Shane McMahon with a superkick. After that, John Cena tried to pin Corbin and Ziggler after hitting AA. But, he received a pop-up powerbomb from Owens. Styles then hit the phenomenal forearm on Owens to get the pinfall win. He celebrated with the title to close the Fastlane PPV.
