Zimbabwe Cricket has decided to sack Graeme Cremer as they failed to qualify for the World Cup next year. Also, they have an ultimatum for the coaching staff to resign.
While ZC informed Cremer about the news yesterday, they gave Heath Streak & Co, an ultimatum. In an email forwarded to Smith by Faisal Hasnain, ZC’s managing director, they gave them a deadline to resign.
“Further to our discussions, please give your technical staff (and yourself included) until 3 PM tomorrow to formally resign. After which time the technical team can consider themselves dismissed and relieved of their duties with immediate effect,” the email read as reported by Cricbuzz.

Meanwhile, Streak’s tenure will end in October, while his support staff has the contract until the end of May. It is understood that the group, which includes batting coach Lance Klusener, bowling coach Douglas Hondo, fielding coach Walter Chawaguta, team analyst Stanley Chiwoza and strength and conditioning coach Sean Bell, have taken legal counsel to determine a response to ZC.
However, Streak will be the fourth coach to lose his job since Alan Butcher left the post of in March 2013.
ZC’s purge will continue as they are likely to remove U19 coach Stephen Mangongo and A team coach Wayne James. Zimbabwe failed to cross the group stages in the U19 World Cup earlier this year.

Meanwhile, this brings a lot of question as whom ZC will bring to replace the vacant roles. The prospect of luring a foreign coach of good standing will also be more challenging after Zimbabwe failed to qualify for next year’s World Cup.
