Former Australian cricketer Michael Klinger showered heaps of praise to banned Australian cricketer Cameron Bancroft. Meanwhile, Klinger was Bancroft teammates at Perth Scorchers and Western Australia.

Television footages showed Bancroft using some sandpaper to change the shape of the ball during the third Test. Since then, the 25-year-old Bancroft has gone through all.

Cricket Australia sanctioned him for 9 months for his involvement and debarred him from captaincy for the next two years. However, Bancroft is yet to confirm whether he will challenge the ban.

The exiled batsman did a press conference upon landing in the country and apologised for his mistakes. He also urged forgiveness and admitted that he will to regain trust with his actions.

“I know it is going to be a difficult journey back, but the moment I step outside this room is the moment I take the step forward to earning that respect back. Through this whole experience and whirlwind has been obviously shown how important the game of cricket is to Australia and the public, and we are representations of that,” Bancroft said back then.

Meanwhile, Klinger texted Bancroft to provide support to the young cricketer at a tumultuous time. The 37-year-old Klinger expected that it will among thousands of messages Bancroft received.

However, Bancroft’s reply was remarkable but unsurprising for Klinger.

“His response summed up what Bangers, the person, is all about,” Klinger wrote in Player’s Voice. “He thanked me, then turned the discussion to my family. He said my wife, Cindy, is going through something of far greater significance than what he was experiencing in South Africa. That, he added, was true perspective,” Klinger added.

Meanwhile, Klinger’s wife was diagnosed with cancer last December. Klinger thought the response was remarkable in such a time.

“Personally, I think that’s a pretty remarkable way for a 25-year-old bloke to respond in the middle of the biggest crisis of his life, one that was being documented all over the world,” he added.

Despite the setback, Klinger is sure Bancroft will still enjoy a long and prosperous career wearing the baggy green.

“I have no doubt Bangers will still be that ten-year player for Australia. He will have to earn his place back with strong performances for WA. And he’ll need to convince selectors he is a better option than the incumbent in the Test opening slot he gave up, a batsman who will no doubt be desperate to keep it.

“But I reckon Cam has got what it takes. This won’t be the last we’ll see of him in the baggy green. He’ll make the country proud again,” he concluded.
