The landscape of WWE Smackdown was changed at Wrestlemania with a big heel-turn during the WWE Championship match.
Furthermore, the general manager of the show returned to in-ring competition which might change the authority figure scenario, as well, going forward. Tonight marks the post-Wrestlemania episode of Smackdown Live which should be interesting filled up with the fallouts from the ‘show of shows’.
Furthermore, the initial buildups for the next PPV in line, Backlash will also start from tonight’s edition. If the advertisements posted by the host arena is to go by then, there would be two huge championship matches in-store for the audience.
This edition of Smackdown Live will be hosted by the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The pro-wrestling world was shocked to see Shinsuke Nakamura turning into a heel on AJ Styles, out of nowhere. It was not expected, at all. However, going forward, this will help the creative team, a lot. By virtue of this, new rivalries would be created on the blue brand.
Meanwhile, the venue has advertised the dream match from Wrestlemania 34 to be recreated on tonight’s Smackdown. The rematch is not likely to take place on the original taped episode. Instead, the crowd in attendance will get to see this one as a dark match once the main show gets over.
Another title match is likely to take place for the Smackdown Women’s Championship. Charlotte Flair vs Carmella is being advertised on the show.
This hints while celebrating her monumental victory against Asuka, The Queen has to confront the princess of Staten Island who might finally cash-in the Money in the Bank briefcase. Chances are quite less that she will emerge as the new champion, tonight.
Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn came up short during their match against Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon. As per the stipulation of the match, they are no more a roster member of the blue brand. So, these two would not be shown and rather wait for WWE Raw to pick them up during the upcoming WWE Draft.
Daniel Bryan had successfully returned to in-ring competition and is likely to focus more on his wrestling career from now onwards. Hence, the chances are that he would step down from his duties of the general manager of Smackdown Live.
There are names floating around suggesting that a new GM would get hired. We might get to know more on this on tonight.
Furthermore, two championships change hand at Wrestlemania. Jinder Mahal won the US title and hence will recreate his rivalry against Randy Orton from last year. Also, it will be interesting to see how The Usos deal with their loss to the Bludgeon Brothers. Lastly, there would be debuts on Smackdown Live, too just we had seen some on WWE Raw, last night.
