Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho could be axed if the Blues lose to Liverpool this Saturday.

Roman Abramovich was certainly not impressed with the way Chelsea succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against West Ham and is now believed to be running out of patience with club’s Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho.

Ironically on Saturday, it was the Russian multibillionaire’s birthday but the all the celebrations turned a bit sour when he watched the match while on holiday in a remote place of Turkey.

The Portuguese manager was directed to the stands at half time as he entered the referee’s room to argue with match official Jon Moss, after the referee also sent off Nemanja Matic along with Mourinho’s assistant Silvino Louro.

Reports are saying Mourinho has the backing of Chelsea owner only for now but it is suggested defeat once again to Liverpool could become the final straw for him.

Till now no meeting has been scheduled between the manager and the owner, but Abramovich is rumoured to be present at the game.

Tomorrow Chelsea have a match against Stoke City in the Capital One Cup. The Russian owner is believed to be not interested with this game, rather it’s the danger of not been able to hold on to  their Premier League title and ending the season outside top four spells the major concern for  Abramovich.

Defeat to Liverpool can predict that a high possibility. It also will be an irony because it was Jurgen Klopp, the then Borussia Dortmund boss who ringed beginning of the end for Jose Mourinho when he was in charge of Real Madrid.

Recently appointed Liverpool manager’s former club Borussia Dortmund embarrassed Real Madrid with a 4-3 aggregate win in 2013 Champions League semi-finals. Mourinho was shown the door 3 weeks later.

However, Sacking Mourinho could cost roman Abramovich around £37.5m as the Chelsea boss has the rest of this year along with three more campaign left on the new contract he penned in summer.

But reports are claiming there is a growing tension in the dressing room among the players who do not fully support their boss for his behaviour, also key members in the club hierarchy also very much frustrated with constant Mourinho-fuelled media controversies which are seemed to be hurting the club’s image.

The Blues boss was recently fined £50,000 and faced stadium ban for criticising referee’s decisions. He is once again likely to be charged for confronting match official Jon Moss.

Chelsea have yet to decide any possible replacements for Mourinho, though Carlo Ancelotti and Guus Hiddink both managers’ name flying in the media. It is suggested Ancelotti is an obvious choice as he recently expressed his desire to return to England but it’s still unclear whether the Italian will chose Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea will also be fined for picking up seven bookings at Upton Park, and for failing to fulfil their post-match commitments, with Mourinho refusing to speak to the media.
