Smackdown Live opened this week with a promo segment from Randy Orton. We have not seen such a long conversation segment on a taped show in recent memory.
There was a time when The Viper had the worse skills with the mic. But now, Randy seemed to have improved a lot in it. Going forward, he will unleash the heel characteristics.
The opening match was more than entertaining on Smackdown. It was an unusual lineup between Rusev and Andrade Cien Almas. Shenanigans outside the ring kept the fans invested into the match. Plus it handed Almas his biggest win to date. We wonder whether this loss will create a rift between Rusev and his Rusev Day partners.
The filler matches were pretty interesting on Smackdown, way better than WWE Raw. It is the best part about Tuesday Nights, as they pull off the sudden lineups to be pretty exciting. However, Becky Lynch vs Carmella fell short of the expectations. We are not sure whether they can deliver big at Summerslam.
WWE Championship contract went pretty well with Ellsworth coming out pretending to be the contender. He always made a segment looked entertaining. This time was no exception as well. Meanwhile, it allowed Samoa Joe to come to the ring all of a sudden and choke down Styles. It was an innovative spot written by the creative team.
The Miz delivered yet another solid segment in the finishing moments of Smackdown Live. This man can bring out the heat of the crowd towards him with quite an ease. With that being said, the rivalry between Daniel Bryan and The Miz has fired up. It should produce a ‘match of the year’ candidate at Summerslam PPV.
Overall, it was a far better episode of Smackdown Live in comparison to WWE Raw. Here are the Twitter reactions from it,
What makes #RusevDay so special is that we do it together. Actions are important, but words matter to. I just hope we can celebrate #RusevDay together again. #SDLive
