WWE Rumour: Kevin Owens can Steal MITB Briefcase from Braun Strowman 1

The storyline between Braun Strowman and Kevin Owens took a new turn on WWE Raw.

For weeks now, the latter one suffered vicious beatdowns from the monstrous persona on the roster. Be it on the flagship show or the last couple of PPV events, he was on the receiving end of the attacks by Strowman. But things changed starting from the July 23rd episode.

Stephanie McMahon arrived on the show to give a boost to Owens’ confidence. He was quite angry about Kurt Angle’s vendetta against him. Despite many complaints, the general manager cared the least about his well-being. It culminated a Steel Cage match at the Extreme Rules. It was the match where Braun Strowman shoved Kevin Owens off the 20-feet high cage.

The Prizefighter continued the angle by returning a week ago and wanted to take everything away from the monster among the men. The only way to do it was to steal the Money in the Bank briefcase from him. So he pledged to sanction a rematch with an added stipulation. It says if Owens wins, then Strowman will lose the MITB briefcase.

Recently, Dave Meltzer discussed the topic on an edition of Wrestling Observer Radio. He revealed there’s a good chance that Kevin Owens might end up becoming the new Mr Money in the Bank. The storyline angles had showcased him as a sympathetic babyface. He is receiving beatings from Mr Monster in the Bank.

So, it only looks justifiable when the former Universal Champion takes the contract away from him. It is going to be the sweetest revenge for him. Check out the quotes from the veteran journalist, (courtesy SportsKeeda.com),

“The idea is that Kevin Owens is right but he is annoying, and when you’re right and annoying it means that you’re supposed to get heat. That’s actually true. The only problem is that Owens is not that annoying, and the other guy (Braun Strowman) is, but the other guy is really, really popular. Braun Strowman is super-over.”

Meltzer might want to emphasise the fact that Braun Strowman is a super babyface. He does not want a briefcase to pick up the title. On the other hand, the MITB concept is meant for a superstar like Kevin Owens. So we should not get surprised if the officials pull the trigger on him at Summerslam.

Furthermore, future ads do suggest that Kevin Owens will headline Hell in a Cell alongside Roman Reigns. It means the former champion will be back into the main event picture with the help of this opportunistic briefcase.
