Finally good news for Jurgen Klopp. Liverpool youngster Daniel Sturridge is looking good to make the much-awaited comeback as he completed a full training session for the first time in more than a month.
The 26-year-old Englishman hasn’t played under new boss Jurgen Klopp yet following a knee injury before the first match of new manager against Tottenham on October 17th.
The promising striker has managed to play only 242 minutes among three matches this term after coming out of a major hip surgery that sidelined him for the final six weeks of the last season.
He reportedly trained with his Liverpool teammates who are not in international duty at Melwood complex on Tuesday.
Sturridge returned to training for the first time after a colliding with Jordon Ibe in a training session which forced him out in October.
He was critically monitored by the medical team throughout the day to analyse how he is rehabbing and they will continuously keep an eye on the striker for the remaining of this week.
Klopp is right now reluctant to rush back the promising striker, despite the recent injuries of Christian Benteke and Danny, that left the German tactician with Divock Origi, his only full fit centre-forward at this stage.
That’s why the new Anfield boss is not willing to take any chances with Sturridge before the trip to Manchester City on Saturday, but another positive step forward in the striker’s current recovery schedule might see him playing against City this weekend.
Also, Klopp will not rush back a player who has sustained five different injuries since the start of last season and has played only 10 league matches in that time. Sturridge has been sidelined for seven games since picked up the latest knee injury, which somewhat took much longer than suggested to recover due to a build-up of fluid on his injured knee.
However, injury still a major concern for Jurgen Klopp, as skipper Jordan Henderson still working hard to get back to full fitness following a surgery on the broken bone on his foot, which has denied the Englishman to work with the new boss.
But James Milner and Ibe’s return to training on Mondy, was a much-needed boost for Klopp as both of them missed the international duty with hamstring and knee injuries respectively.
