Rusev faced The Undertaker at the Greatest Royal Rumble event. It was a spectacle hosted by Saudi Arabia on April 24th. All the big names available in the WWE were present in the squared circle to entertain the fans. The Deadman also found his way back into the WWE programming for this special occasion.

But there were numerous changes in his match at the Greatest Royal Rumble event. Rusev was the original name that WWE announced as his opponent. Promotions around this match also started after that. But all of a sudden, WWE pulled him out of the contest and put Chris Jericho into it.

There were a lot of speculations going on about the sudden replacement. The rumours suggested negative comments about the Undertaker that cost Rusev, heavily. He went on a rant against the Deadman in an interview with TMZ. Even Taker’s wife reacted to this at a later point.

However, the original match was back onboard, a few days later. WWE confirmed Rusev vs Undertaker was happening in a Casket Match capacity. Recently we got to know what the real reason was behind the match alteration. None other the man in controversy clarified the situation.

The Bulgarian Brute recently appeared on an episode of Ride Along with his wife and Aiden English. He revealed that he showed the audacity of ‘laughing at’ towards Vince McMahon. He found that he was no more competing against Undertaker at Greatest Royal Rumble. Later, the match was back on the card in quick time.

Here are his comments, (courtesy stillrealtous.com),

“Remember when Vince told me I was going to face The Undertaker and I laughed at him? And what I get for it? I got pulled out [from the match]. And then the Prince [of Saudi Arabia] called, and he told me Rusev Day is coming to town baby.”

Rusev had not won that match, for sure. But competing against The Undertaker is a lifetime opportunity for any superstar. So he will surely cherish the memory for the rest of his career. Plus this was the match after which his career started riding high on Smackdown. He moved on to the main event scenario gradually following this match.
