England lower middle-order batsmen resisted well to put themselves on top at the end of day three of the fourth Test against India in Southampton. We’ve compiled the statistical highlights of the particular day as well.
Meanwhile, India started on a real high on the morning session. They send four England batsmen back to the hut to take an early grip in the match. But the hosts started to fight back with skipper Joe Root trying to steady the ship.
However, a brilliant inswinger from Mohammed Shami on the first ball after the lunch rattled Jonny Bairstow’s timber. Shami backed it up with an outstanding effort on the field to send England skipper back to the pavilion as Root failed short of the ground at Southampton. India kept coming back as the home team tried to put their head back in the game.

Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler then revived the innings followed by Buttler sharing an important partnership with Sam Curran. Curran’s growth as a player in this series has been a real find for the hosts this season. However, Mohammed Shami came back again in the last over to send Adil Rashid back in the hut as the umpires called for the day.
