Team India opener Murali Vijay is confident of making a come back in the national team after the selectors recently snubbed him from the last two Tests against England.
Meanwhile, Vijay had a poor run in England registering only 26 runs in the four innings. Furthermore, he got out for a duck in both the innings at Lord’s. Eventually, he missed the third Test at Trent Bridge and was subsequently left out of the team.
However, Murali Vijay has underscored his determination to come back to the national side. He also noted that he badly wants India to win the series against England.
“I will be back playing for India. I am positive, will sort a few things out, make runs – (but) firstly, I want India to win the series in England,” Murali Vijay said.

The touring side is currently trailing the five-match Test series 2-1 and Vijay is going through a lean patch. Furthermore, in India’s last away series, against South Africa in January this year, Vijay returned 1, 13, 46, 9, 8 and 25 from six innings.
There are speculations that with youngsters coming in, this can be the end of road for Murali Vijay. However, the Tamil Nadu batsmen don’t think so.
“It is not the first time this has happened to me,” he said. “I believe age is only a number. As long as my feet move and my head is still, I will continue to play,” he added.

On India’s last tour of England in 2014, Vijay had emerged as one of the rocks of the batting line-up, accumulating 402 runs in the series that included a gritty 95 at Lord’s that helped India win their only Test. Speaking on this tour, Murali Vijay explained that England pacers had a proper game plan in place for him.
“The English pacemen had their game plan worked out this time, bowling closer to my body and making me play a lot more deliveries,” Vijay concluded.
Murali Vijay has scored 3933 runs from 59 Tests at an average of 39.33 including 12 hundred.
