Former English skipper, Andrew Strauss has shared high praise for Alastair Cook as England greatest player prior to his international retirement after the completion of the ongoing five-match Test series against India.
Meanwhile, former captain Cook, England’s all-time record run-scorer, walked out to a guard of honour from the opponents. Furthermore, Strauss presented him with a commemorate cap before the start of the play. Strauss, now the ECB director, addressed the England team before handing Cook a cap numbered 161 to mark the final international match of a 12-year international career.
Moreover, Alastair Cook also expressed his pleasure to share the dressing room with incredible players throughout his career. Furthermore, the southpaw also added that he is keen to go out with a win in the England shirt.

“Not that I am wishing this week away but once it is out of the way and the dust has settled and life has moved on I think it will be a great watch, just to appreciate how many people I have played Test cricket with and how special everything has been.” Cook said.
Andrew Strauss shares his praise for Alastair Cook
Strauss out of his understandable loyalty to his former opening partner expressed high praise for Cook. So much so, he labeled him as England’s greatest cricketer ever.

“That average, that consistency, the number of times he has passed fifty and obviously the hundreds and the match-winning hundreds he’s got, all combine to make him England’s greatest player ever in my opinion,” Strauss said.
Meanwhile, India got the upper hand late in the day banking on their fast bowlers. After a gritty start, England finally gave up to finish the day on 197 for seven.
