South Africa spinner, Tabraiz Shamsi has been around for quite some time, but only recently he made an impact to remember. Shamsi said he is ready to perform at the highest level if he gets an opportunity at the 2019 World Cup.

The spinner was among the wickets against Sri Lanka in the recently concluded series. Tabraiz Shamsi scalped four wickets in the Galle Test and showed glimpses of his capability in whites. He followed it up with six crucial wickets in the ODI series. The promising bowler picked a couple of sticks in the shortest format as well.
Shamsi eyes the big stage
However, veteran spinner, Imran Tahir is still Proteas’ first preference, but Shamsi has set his sight on the big stage.
“I feel sad that I missed out on the Champions Trophy because I’ve never been to an ICC event before,” Shamsi told ESPNcricinfo.
“My ambition is to put in consistent performances and go to the World Cup and do some damage in England. Well, I don’t want to just participate, I want to be somebody who makes a big difference in a big game and win it for South Africa. I firmly believe I will do something special at the World Cup if I get picked”.
The 28-year-old enjoyed a great season at the domestic level as well. He was the highest wicket-taker in One-Day Cup and the T20 Challenge in the 2017-18 challenge.
Tabraiz Shamsi bagged the ODI Cup Player of the Year award and T20 Challenge Player of the Year accolades at the Cricket South Africa Awards.
“It was very pleasing for me, personally. It was nice to see that I did well in conditions that didn’t suit my style of bowling. ‘The World Cup is coming up in England next year, and the pitches don’t really spin much there as well.” he said.
